ARLINGTON, Virginia, February 9, 2026

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) Hong Kong programs recently hosted a professional photo event for the Class of 2025. The event, which took place over several months, honored the dedication and hard work of their newest graduates.

Recognizing that many UMT students balance rigorous academic requirements with full-time professional careers and family responsibilities, the Hong Kong programs invited graduates to bring their families to share in these commemorative sessions. The initiative was met with excellent engagement, fostering a strong sense of community among the region’s alumni.

A total of 21 graduates from across UMT’s Doctoral, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree programs participated in this year's photo sessions.

UMT remains committed to supporting our students globally and celebrating the momentum of our graduates as they transition into the next phase of their careers.

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UPI Study, establishing a collaboration aimed at expanding access to flexible and affordable higher-education pathways for students in the United States and globally.

UPI Study is an education company based in New Jersey that specializes in bridging students into U.S. colleges and universities through low-cost, high-quality academic offerings aligned with National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) and American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations. Through this partnership, eligible students may gain access to structured academic pathways designed to reduce both cost and time to degree completion.

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 2025 commencement ceremony and reception on Saturday, October 25, at Van Metre Hall in Arlington, VA. Close to 200 participants from across the US and overseas attended the graduation in person. During the ceremony, graduate representatives Ashrafeen Rizzo and Dr. Kelvin Ip shared their educational journeys. UMT President Dr. Yanping Chen and Provost & CAO Dr. Eric Kirkland delivered remarks on behalf of the University.

UMT Earns Programmatic Accreditation Reaffirmation from PMI GAC for Five Project Management Programs

ARLINGTON, VA, September 17, 2025

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) is pleased to announce that the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) has reaffirmed the accreditation of five of its project management degree programs. This decision, voted on by the GAC Directors at their September 2025 meeting, extends the accreditation for a six-year period, from August 1, 2025, through July 31, 2031.

The reaccredited programs include:

Executive Certificate in Project Management
Master of Business Administration (MBA), Project Management
Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), IT Project Management
Master of Science in Management (MSM), Project Management
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Project Management

This reaffirmation solidifies UMT's standing as a premier institution for project management education, demonstrating its commitment to meeting the rigorous global standards set by the GAC.

Since 2005, the GAC's continuous recognition in UMT's project management academic programs over two decades is a testament to the university's dedication to providing high-quality, relevant, and globally recognized education. The accreditation process involves a comprehensive review of the program's curriculum, faculty, and educational resources to ensure they align with the GAC core areas of focus.

This accreditation is not just a global benchmark for UMT's education quality, it provides tangible benefits to UMT students and graduates. Alumni of GAC-accredited degree programs are granted substantial credit toward the experience requirement for all PMI certifications. The University of Management and Technology (UMT) proudly congratulates the Global Universities Alumni Union (GUAU) on the successful celebration of its 9th anniversary. The milestone was marked with the Ninth Annual Dinner held in Hong Kong on April 14, 2025, drawing numerous alumni leaders, distinguished guests, and notable public figures.

Among the attendees were former Secretary for Education Mr. Eddie Ng Hak-kim, several Legislative Council members, and renowned academics and professionals from various sectors. UMT Launches Digital Doctoral Dissertation Library

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has launched a digital Doctoral Dissertation Library to support the research needs of doctoral students and faculty. This new resource serves as a centralized repository to curate scholarly works produced by UMT doctoral students.

With an initial collection of approximately 400 fully digitized dissertations, the library offers an accessible platform for users to explore a wide range of business and management topics. Users can search the library using a variety of filters, including title, author, date, and keywords, allowing for efficient navigation and discovery.

“We are excited to launch this initiative as part of our commitment to academic excellence and innovation,” said UMT President, Dr. Chen. “This Dissertation Library not only showcases the intellectual contributions of our doctoral students but also supports the continuum of scholarly inquiry to advance management sciences by making doctoral research findings accessible.”

In August 2024, the UMT Hong Kong programs hosted a Photography Celebration event for the graduating class of 2024. Graduates had the chance to capture special moments with their family and friends in a professional photography studio setting. Close to 40 graduates from Doctoral, Master’s, and Bachelor’s programs took part in the event, celebrating their academic accomplishments surrounded by loved ones.

UMT Holds 2024 Commencement Ceremony

ARLINGTON, Virginia, November 22, 2024

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 2024 commencement ceremony and reception on Saturday, October 19, at Van Metre Hall in Arlington, VA. Close to 250 participants from across the US and overseas attended the graduation in person. During the ceremony, graduate representatives Dominique Collier and Tingting Sze shared their educational journeys. UMT President Dr. Yanping Chen and Provost & CAO Dr. Eric Kirkland delivered remarks on behalf of the University.
